Following the parting of ways between Edgar Wright and Marvel Studios over the upcoming comic book movie Ant-Man, it was Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn of all people who stepped out into the spotlight and really said all the right things to try and calm irate fans down. In an open letter posted on his Facebook page, the filmmaker compared the situation to being very good friends with both sides of a couple going through a breakup - you can't choose sides; you can only try and understand where both sides are coming from. It was a smart, reasoned response, and one recently echoed by Iron Man and Iron Man 2 helmer Jon Favreau while commenting on the situation.

All Edgar’s films have been studio films, it’s not like he’s never made one before. The plot for Overnight is said to center on an absent-minded dad who is struggling to preserve his relationship with his son after divorce. Also stuffed in there, he has to defuse a hostage situation, presumably at a toy store.
The Wrap has not only gotten word that The Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont is now lining up to direct Snow White and the Huntsman 2, but also that the film will be shifting gears to focus the Huntsman - played by Chris Hemsworth - and is cutting Kristen Stewart out of the story completely. The script is still being put together so nothing is permanent at this stage (sadly no writer is mentioned), but the trade says that "if Stewart does return, her appearance [will] likely be limited to a cameo or a handful of brief scenes." If this does pan out, we can probably expect that the title of the project will drop the "Snow White" part. Perhaps just The Huntsman?

Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy, who want to stall for a more traditional May 2016 release date, and Bob Iger, who is dead set on meeting the December 18th, 2015 opening currently in play. As if that wasn't enough of a pain in the asteroid belt, Latino Review has speculated that J.J. Abrams might have lost his spot on the rest of the trilogy due to this argument, as well as his rejection of Michael Ardnt's screenplay work in favor of his own.

Of course, the Latino Review piece is rampant with a whole bunch of other speculation, including a report that says Lucasfilm Publicity officially has stated that Harrison Ford's injury hasn't delayed production on Star Wars: Episode VII at all, and that Rian Johnson's hiring was because of J.J. Abrams' previously mentioned artistic differences with Disney. If I might be allowed a little bit of speculation on my end, I'd say Bob Iger doesn't want to delay Star Wars: Episode VII's release date because his contract with Disney goes until 2016. Depending on the details of the chairman's contract, I wonder if he might not be able to fully reap the benefits of having the film on his resume if he leaves before it's released. The current holiday season release date leaves the movie in a prime tentpole release date that Disney is familiar with, and it keeps Star Wars: Episode VII on Bob Iger's CV.

If I might be allowed a little bit of speculation on my end, I'd say Bob Iger doesn't want to delay Star Wars: Episode VII's release date because his contract with Disney goes until 2016. Depending on the details of the chairman's contract, I wonder if he might not be able to fully reap the benefits of having the film on his resume if he leaves before it's released. The current holiday season release date leaves the movie in a prime tentpole release date that Disney is familiar with, and it keeps Star Wars: Episode VII on Bob Iger's CV.

Mix well with mixer, and then gently fold in crushed pineapple. Pour into a buttered and sugared 9" x 13" pan.

And maybe even some new info about the Netflix shows that are in development! Needless to say, there is a lot to be excited for.

For 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, director Zack Snyder has enlisted Ben Affleck to play the new Dark Knight, and in addition to that movie, the character is then expected to show up in Justice League, rumored for 2017. 4 unpeeled large garlic cloves, smashed

1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary leaves
Place potatoes in medium saucepan. Add enough cold water to cover by 1 inch. Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons coarse salt. Bring to boil, then reduce to simmer. Cook potatoes until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain. Return to saucepan. Add remaining ingredients to potatoes; toss to coat. Cool.
Arrange four 12-inch squares aluminum foil on work surface. Divide potato mixture among foil squares and place 1 garlic clove atop potatoes on each square. Crimp to seal. Store packets at room temperature up to 2 hours or in refrigerator up to 2 days.
Prepare grill (medium-high heat). Place potato packets on grill and cook until heated through and sizzling, turning occasionally, about 15 minutes. Transfer packets to serving plate and pierce foil with grill fork to release steam. Open packets carefully (hot steam will be released).

The audience knows that Thor actually left Asgard to be ruled under the iron fist of Loki (Tom Hiddleston), but he probably won’t figure that out until Thor 3, given that the villainous character won’t be appearing in Avengers 2.

Set photos have shown that the patriotic hero is getting yet another costume change in the movie, so obviously he’s getting close with somebody.

Cannoli Cupcakes
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup salted butter, at room temperature
2 large eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream
2/3 cup Mascarpone cheese
2/3 cup Ricotta cheese, strained slightly
5 Tbsp powdered sugar
Sweetened Chocalate Whipped Cream
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1/3 cup powdered sugar
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3 Tbsp mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, for garnish
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt, set aside. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, whip together butter and sugar on medium high speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 – 4 minutes, occasionally scrapping down the sides of the bowl. Stir in eggs one at a time mixing until combine after each addition. Mix in sour cream and vanilla. With mixer set at low speed, slowly add dry ingredients and mix just until combine, scraping down sides and bottom of bowl as needed. Divide batter among 12 paper lined muffin cups, filling each cup about 2/3 full (about 1/4 cup batter per each). Bake in preheated oven 21 – 24 minutes until lightly golden and toothpick inserted into center of cupcake comes out clean. Allow to cool several minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool. Cool cupcakes completely.

To assemble cupcakes
Spread about 1 1/2 Tbsp cannoli filling over the top of each cupcake, then pipe sweetened chocolate whipped cream over cupcakes. Garnish with mini chocolate chips. Serve within the next 3 hours (as the whipped cream will begin to break down after that). Store in refrigerator in an airtight container.
*Measurement taken before straining. To strain, I just placed the ricotta onto a layer of clean paper towels then wrapped it up and squeezed to strain out the liquids, then did this same step once more with a new batch of paper towels. You don’t need all of the liquid removed just some of it.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt, set aside. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, whip together butter and sugar on medium high speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 – 4 minutes, occasionally scrapping down the sides of the bowl. Stir in eggs one at a time mixing until combine after each addition. Mix in sour cream and vanilla. With mixer set at low speed, slowly add dry ingredients and mix just until combine, scraping down sides and bottom of bowl as needed. Divide batter among 12 paper lined muffin cups, filling each cup about 2/3 full (about 1/4 cup batter per each). Bake in preheated oven 21 – 24 minutes until lightly golden and toothpick inserted into center of cupcake comes out clean. Allow to cool several minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool. Cool cupcakes completely.

Add sugar and vanilla, mix well.
Add flour one cup at a time and mix on low just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips with a rubber spatula.

1 1/2 to 2 1/2 c. sugar
Melted butter

Chopped nuts
Mix flour, 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar and salt; cut in butter as for pastry.
Soften yeast in water. Combine milk, egg yolk and softened yeast; add to flour mixture and mix well. Chill, covered, until firm enough to handle, at least 2 hours.
Turn dough on a lightly floured board, punch down, cover with a cloth and allow to rest 10 minutes.
Roll into a rectangle, 10x18 inches, and spread with soft butter. Mix 1/2-cup sugar and 2 teaspoons Cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over dough. Roll as for jelly roll, sealing the edge; the roll should be 18 inches long. Cut into 1-inch slices.
Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon on a large square of waxed paper or aluminum foil.
Place slices, one at a time, on sugar mixture; roll into 5-inch Rounds. Sprinkle nuts on top and press gently. Then place on ungreased Cookie sheets, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with about 1 teaspoon sugar-cinnamon mixture.
Bake immediately in a preheated 400-degree oven about 12 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

In the trailers you probably remember him as the guy pointing a gun at and chasing after Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), and you can probably get used to seeing a lot of that throughout Guardians of the Galaxy. A member of the alien race known as the Kree, Korath is an expert hunter (as his nickname suggests) and has superhuman abilities that allow him to be very successful at his job. In the comics the character has the ability to trace brain patterns and locate individuals psionically, but it's unclear if that power will continue in the movie.

The one baddie not featured on the magazine cover is the puppet master holding all of the strings: Thanos (who will be voiced by Josh Brolin). The Batman of that era wasn't a brooding, violent crime stopper, but moreso a thinker and a witty punster, tossing off one liners that made the show as light as the hero’s cartoonish punches. The fights, the villains, even the action sequences were all designed as gags rather than actual life-threatening moments. Perception of the Dark Knight completely changed with Burton's Batman, as the film really dug into the core reason why billionaire Bruce Wayne started this whole vigilante business: vengeance for his murdered parents.

Michael Keaton's portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman did maintain a keen mind, sharp sleuthing skills, and an arsenal of gadgets that would make Q Branch flush with glee, but all of that came with the burden of the trauma he suffered as a boy. While Burton’s vision ultimately screwed with the classic origin story told in the comics, Batman showed a man's journey of catharsis through the employment of theatricality, deception, and vigilante justice. When Batman actually tries to save The Joker in the film's final battle, he finally accepts that he has to move on from the death of his parents, thus proving to himself that he's no longer an aimless thug tearing down the city's walls to find his parent's killer. He realizes that he's not a killer at all, but instead a protector and a dispenser of justice. Without Batman, we would have never gotten movies like Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, or even Zach Snyder's Man Of Steel for that matter. Of course, DC Comics weren't the only ones who benefited from the rise of the darker Knight.
