Beef and Pork Stew

Ingredients Preparation
2 tablespoons [30 mL] vegetable oil
1 pound [454 g] stewing beef cubes
1/2 pound [227 g] pork shoulder cubes
1/2 pound [227 g] peeled pearl onions
1 [1 3/4-ounce / 50-g] pack stew sauce mix
1 cup [250 mL] cold water
1/2 cup [125 mL] boiling water
1/2 pound [227 g] cleaned small fresh white mushrooms
Preheat oven to 375°F [190°C].
Heat oil into a large oven-safe casserole.
Brown together beef and pork cubes on all sides.
Use a slotted spoon to transfer the meat into a plate; set aside.
Add pearl onions to casserole; brown stirring for a few minutes.
Mix together sauce mix and cold water until smooth.
Stir in boiling water then add all reserved meat cubes.
Bring to a boil stirring.
Cover and bake into preheated oven for 2 hours.
Mix in mushrooms.
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes more before serving.
