Apple-Cranberry Maple Syrup





2 tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced



¼ cup firmly packed brown sugar



2 tbsp. dried cranberries



¼ tsp. ground cinnamon



¼ tsp. kosher salt



2 tbsp. unsalted butter



½ cup pure maple syrup



2 tbsp. chopped walnuts



Directions:



In a medium sauté pan over medium heat, combine first 6 ingredients. After the butter begins to bubble, cook until apples are tender (about 10 min.), stirring occasionally. Add maple syrup; heat through. Stir in walnuts before serving. Serve warm. Makes about 1 cup.
