When The Trade was first announced it was exciting or not?
Watch Captain America The Winter Soldier Online Clooney is still one of the industry's finest actors, and he's recently mixed it up in the blockbuster realm: last year's Gravity was a $700 million hit, and next summer he's the star of the Disney blockbuster Tomorrowland. But this year's The Monuments Men was a real chore to sit through, and it felt like the sort of dry filmed lecture that Ides Of March dabbled in. Worse yet, it was a big hit, generating $156 million worldwide. Basically, we're all indulging him in this soapboxing on film!
Watch Divergent Online Maybe the answer is just to keep the very-busy actor-producer away from directing, but the fact is that the Money Monster premise and Clooney's pet interests in Wall Street, the media and television, offers too many opportunities for bloviating b.s., even if he offers a farcical take on cable hosts and plays the financial expert as a total comedic knobhead in the vein of his Burn After Reading performance. The production is currently in search of financing, but if they can't get Mr. George Clooney, they'll presumably be pursuing another Mr. Famous Movie Star in the hope of starting production soon.
Watch Brick Mansions Online Director Jay Roach is primarily known for his work in the comedy genre, having broken out with Austin Powers International Man of Mystery in 1997 and following it up with movies like the first two titles in the Meet The Parents trilogy, but he has had his chance to dabble a bit in drama. In the last decade he went to HBO twice to make the politically charged dramas Game Change and Recount, and while his return to the big screen was the Will Ferrell-Zach Galafianakis comedy The Campaign, apparently Roach is ready to bring his more dramatic game to the big screen. He is now attached to helm The Trade, a true story-based baseball film that is being guided by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and has been in the works since 2010.
Watch Vampire Academy Online Initially it looked like there was a possibility that Affleck and Damon could star in the movie, and then came rumors that one of them would direct, but now the Oscar-winning duo will simply work as producers on the movie, with Affleck also getting a co-writing credit. Set in the 1970s, the film will tell the story of New York Yankees pitchers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich who caused a great deal of controversy when they admitted that they had participated in wife swapping. The Wrap has a very interesting description of the project's tone, describing it as "being in the vein of Hal Ashby's Shampoo and some of Sydney Pollack's films from the '70s and '80s." Basically, it seems like they are really going to play up the period piece angle.
Watch That Awkward Moment Online The movie could very well be the second project produced by Damon and Affleck's Pearl Street Films, the first being Gus van Sant's 2012 drama Promised Land (which Damon also starred in). For a while it looked like Affleck's next directorial effort, Live By Night, would be the company's second feature, but the actor-cum-director's commitments to playing the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's untitled Batman vs. Superman has pushed that movie to 2016. With Roach now in place for The Trade, that movie can really start to get rolling and possibly start production before the end of the year.
Watch Bears Online When The Trade was first announced it was exciting that the movie had the possibility of being the first reunion of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon on the big screen in a long time, but with that option seemingly out the window Roach is left with an interesting puzzle to solve. Whoever he gets to play Peterson and Kekich will probably have to have pretty good chemistry together and be strong enough performers to carry the drama. If you were casting this movie, who would you want to see play the leads? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
Watch Oculus Online The announcement comes directly from Michael Bay's official website, and actually identifies the roles that Goodman and Watanabe will be playing in the movie (something that has become a bit of a rarity in modern blockbusters). Goodman will be voicing Hound, whom Transformers fans may remember is able to turn into a Jeep or humvee:
Watch 300 Rise of an Empire Online The Wrap reports that George Clooney is being courted to star in Money Monster, which sounds like a fun kids board game about the realities of the free market instead of a Hollywood feature film. The story follows a Jim Cramer-like money analyst on cable television who gives a bad tip - one that causes a viewer to bet big and eventually lose everything he owns. When the man takes the host hostage on live TV, the ratings predictably soar as the two, no doubt, settle in for a talky ideological debate about the ethics of money. Cosmpolis did this better a couple of years ago, but it was also pretty inscrutable, and this concept, with its guns and TV angle, seems a bit dumber and more palatable to the mainstream.
The script comes from Alan DiFiore (Grimm), Jim Kouf (Operation Dumbo Drop!) and Jamie Linden (Dear John) and Jodie Foster is looking to direct. Foster, who last directed The Beaver with Mel Gibson (she's got friends on both sides of the aisles!) has recently been at the service of Netflix helming episodes of House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black. There has been no word regarding if she'll act in the movie in the movie as well, though it would be pretty interesting to have Clooney and Foster as the leads. Clooney's participation in the film is still up in the air, so it's not certain as to whether or not we'll get to see Outraged Concerned Heroic Clooney (Michael Clayton), or Blowhard Jerk Clooney (The Ides Of March) in Money Monster.
