Patty Jenkins director of choice for Sweetheart

Deadline reports that Patty Jenkins director of choice for Sweetheart

Watch Rio 2 Online If you haven't seen The Room or its accompanying multimedia material, the fact is, like the Matrix, no one can be told what Tommy Wiseau is. You must see for yourself. To recount his shady-sounding story of how he raised the money for The Room is pointless: he is an enigma, appearing out of thin air to debut his magnum opus in Los Angeles in the early aughts, buying out entire theaters and, slowly, building a reputation for the movie (which he writes, directs and stars in) that led to midnight screenings nationwide and a bizarre counter-cultural reputation as a fool, a genius, or... well, probably a fool. To this day, there remains theories that Wiseau is a performance artist akin to Andy Kaufman, never once letting the facade drop on his grand public performance as a weirdly-pumped madman with a completely obscure, hard-to-place accent.

Watch Need For Speed Online Seth Rogen was on the Opie And Anthony show (via That Lit Site) discussing Neighbors when talk turned to the gestating adaptation of The Disaster Artist. It was then when Rogen dropped the bombshell that none other than performance artist extraordinaire James Franco would be bringing his ironic layers of stardom to the role of Tommy Wiseau, living question mark. No other details are known about the project, though Franco as Wiseau gives our first implication that this is going to be the ultimate visit to The Room none of us knew we even wanted.

Watch A Haunted House 2 Online Wherever there is a film that tackles major social causes, George Clooney will be there. Clooney used to have a pretty decent split between making entertaining fare and pursuing a positive, slightly lefty but otherwise humanist agenda. Something happened to change all that, and it's very possible that George Clooney is moving fully towards an existence as a politically-motivated cartoon with Money Monster.

Watch Sabotage Online Currently the running tally on 2014 wide-release films directed by women is six. One of them is co-directed by a man (Jupiter Ascending), and two center on the relationship between men and sports (Niki Caro's McFarland, Angelina Jolie's WWII-set Unbroken). That lack of diversity just doesn't work for the industry. It's great that Jenkins is getting another shot. Hopefully, this reaches enough audiences to keep her employed for good.

Watch Frozen Online My honest hope is that Charlize Theron re-teams with Jenkins on this project. It's not like Theron doesn't owe Jenkins a favor, and this would be another opportunity for the actress to establish herself as a genuine funny lady - as she's doing in the upcoming (and sort of demeaning-looking?) A Million Ways To Die In The West. Charlize Theron will be hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend to give viewers a further reminder of her comedy chops. A part that requires her to be goofy and tough like Sweetheart's hitwoman lead could be a godsend, particularly because it will reunite her with Patty Jenkins.

Watch Muppets Most Wanted Online Since 2003, Jenkins has spent the years working on shows as diverse as Arrested Development, Entourage and The Killing. This seems like an unusual fate considering Monster was a critically-acclaimed movie that earned Charlize Theron an Academy Award. Helping a movie star win an Oscar seems like the sort of thing that gets you work forever, but Patty Jenkins apparently couldn't catch a break. For a while it looked like she was close to returning to the big screen when she briefly sat in the director's chair for Thor: The Dark World, but "creative differences" (i.e. Jenkins wanted to make it interesting?) ended that relationship. Now it's been more than a decade without Jenkins in charge of a movie, major or otherwise. At the same time, we won't soon forget the emotional impact that Jenkins and Theron teamed up to deliver in their collaboration, creating something very powerful and transformative for the South African actress:

Watch The Raid 2 Online Deadline reports that Patty Jenkins is the director of choice for Sweetheart, a script from screenwriter Jack Stanley that was good enough to land on the Black List (the annual list of the most popular unproduced screenplays in Hollywood). The film revolves around a hit-woman who is attempting to retire, but ends up dragged back into the business of killing people after the unlikely combination of a one-night-stand and high school reunion. Stanley's script earned enough attention that it's gotten him the job penning Chronicle 2, and his script is apparently quite comedic in tone - miles away from deeply dark and disturbing Monster.

Watch Non Stop Online Patty Jenkins has not directed a movie since 2003's Monster. What has she been doing for the last decade? Working in television, waiting to re-enter the cinematic rat-race, as most directors would do. But now it seems like Patty Jenkins and Sweetheart have become the ideal match, one that will help Jenkins return to the big-time.

James Franco's directing career is varied, but so far leans towards the serious, with material like Before I Lay Dying and the documentary Interior. Leather Bar among his efforts. Re-teaming with buddies Seth Rogen (Freaks And Geeks) and Evan Goldberg (co-writer on Pineapple Express) could allow his funny-bone to emerge. The three are currently working on The Interview, which Rogen and Goldberg are directing and which stars Franco and Rogen. But there's reason to believe The Disaster Artist might also be something of a Heart Of Darkness-style dive into the abyss. Franco, who has previously stated that his brother Dave would co-star (as Sestero?), has compared the material to both Boogie Nights and The Master, suggesting that this could be more of a black comedy, one that looks down the barrel of irrelevance only to find that it peers back, ever so uncomfortably. Of course, can Franco really nail the cadence of Wiseau's sing-song delivery? Can Franco deliver lines like "YOU ARE TEARING ME APAHT LISA"? The hope is we'll know more soon about James Franco's The Disaster Artist, a prank-sounding movie based on a movie that might be a prank.
