When asked if actor Derek Mears would be reprising

Watch The Hunger Games Catching Fire Online Outside of Idris Elba, who has gained very little traction in the actual Oscar race, these are the four names I expect to see on Oscar’s ballots come Thursday: Tom Hanks, Captain Phillips; Robert Redford, All Is Lost; Matthew McConaughey, Dallas Buyers Club; and Chiwetel Ejiofor, 12 Years a Slave. Any of those four could win on Sunday, and I wouldn’t be shocked. I have been saying all along that McConaughey was the frontrunner in a stacked Actor category for his outstanding turn in Club. But Ejiofor, Hanks and Redford might be delivering career-best performances. Imagine how much more difficult this category would be if Elba had been replaced by Leonardo DiCaprio or Joaquin Phoenix (both of whom are in the Musical or Comedy category).

Watch Open Grave Online But it’s still fun to handicap the Globes races, and this year has some particularly tight categories. (See their nominees here.) We’ll be popping popcorn and tracking these battles from the comforts of our sofa… and live-blogging the whole affair here on CinemaBlend (so be sure to come back Sunday night and join us). Who will be making their speeches Sunday evening? Let’s analyze these five too-tough-to-call categories.

Watch The Best Offer Online Awards season is in full swing. Oscar nominations arrive on Thursday, Jan. 16. The Critics Choice Movie Awards announce their winners that evening. And on Sunday night, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association hands out its annual trophies at the Golden Globes. We expect to see a lot of bleed-over between Globes nominees and Oscar nominees by the time the Academy reveals its contenders this year. Winners at the Globes have no real effect on Oscar. For one thing, the Globes are selected by the 90-some-odd members of the eclectic HFPA, and not the Academy. Plus, Oscar ballots were due in before the Globes are announced, so winning a Globe can’t really help someone's Oscar campaign.

Watch The Conjuring Online As you can guess, this isn’t even the only action movie that Willis has coming up. He’s also starring in Robert Rodriguez’s long-awaited sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and he’ll be playing a bad guy in Brian A. Miller’s Vegas thriller The Prince. And let’s not forget he also filled 2013 with those other substandard sequels Red 2 and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. It’s a good day to watch one of Willis’ better movies. Or even Hudson Hawk, which was at least an ambitious kind of terrible. But just in case that doesn’t sound like a good idea, maybe you’ll enjoy watching everything that the fifth Die Hard film did wrong.

Watch Don Jon Online In the film, Willis will play a real estate developer on a job in Brazil when he finds himself kidnapped and held for ransom by a squad of doofuses who wrongfully assume that he’s got tons of money. But instead of waiting around for his captors to figure out that his bank account isn’t loaded, he tries to escape the armored truck in which he’s imprisoned. Meanwhile, a detective is on the hunt for him, and I’m really hoping they nab someone credible to play that part. No Nicolas Cage and no Jason Statham, though if they wanted to somehow meld those two actors together to create a supercop specifically for this film, I’d be game.

Watch Bad Grandpa Online Captive will be directed by Simon Brand, the Columbian director who got his break with the 2006 locked-room mystery Unknown, from a script written by Kario Salem (Chasing Mavericks, Benjamin A. van der Veen (Che: Part Two) and Paolo Marinou-Blanco (Goodnight Irene). The screenplay was tweaked for Willis’ sake, according to Deadline, hopefully lessening the amount of deadpan one-liners, but probably not by much.

Watch Last Vegas Online While we may not all agree on the specific severity of awfulness, I think we can all agree that A Good Day to Die Hard was one of 2013’s worst action films, if not all of the year’s films in general. It was almost dangerous to watch Bruce Willis dial in John McClane’s latest exploits, and Willis himself made it clear in August that he was tired of starring in action movies. Naturally, he’s gone and gotten himself attached not just to another action movie but to a role that was vacated by Arnold Schwarzenegger. So, I guess that earlier plan is out the window. Willis has signed on for the lead role in the Brazilian hostage thriller Captive from Emmet/Furla Films and Aldamisa Entertainment.

Watch The To Do List Online Fuller acknowledges that Platinum Dunes' Welcome to Yesterday is a found footage movie and that The Purge has some of the same elements, and says they understand that a large portion of their fanbase doesn't want to see this film in that format. But Fuller pretty much sums it all up by saying, "Until we figure out exactly what the story is for the next Friday the 13th movie, I can’t tell you what it’s going to be." Now if you guys will excuse me, I'm going to have a bowl of soup without a bowl or any soup.

Watch Riddick Online Okay, so that's a bit of story bait for you guys to immediately get angry about, but Crave Online caught up with Platinum Dunes' Brad Fuller, one of the Friday producers, who said that Jason's absence is at least a possibility, and the found footage angle is still in the air. I suppose next we'll hear about a Fast & Furious movie without any cars and a Roland Emmerich movie that won't destroy half of the world's population.

When asked if actor Derek Mears would be reprising his role as the hockey masked murderer, Fuller said, "I don’t know because I don’t know if we’re going to have Jason, I don’t know which Jason we’re going to have. I can tell you this: I love Derek Mears, I love working with him and he’s a dream so we’d be lucky to have him." That's a pretty strange way to answer a question, even if it doesn't reflect on the final product. They don't even have a script yet to go along with their March 13, 2015 release date.
