Burger King French Fry Burger
Okay so what's the hype? A dollar menu item - didn't think I would like it - but for the heck of it I tried it.
So now I am making them -
You can use a frozen beef patty or a pre-made one found in the fresh meat case - either way you'll have a close enough burger to copy this.
Now for the Burger King version-
1 broiled patty
place on the heel of one of their sesame seed hamburger rolls
top with fresh made fries (which by the way - certainly were not salty as I had expected them to be! and of course, their fries have much more substance to them than McD's!)
now mind you - they give you 4 fries - it's just enough and it doesn't ruin the sammie
a squirt of ketchup over the fries
topped with the crown of the roll that has been slathered with mayo and just enough lettuce
surprising pleasant!
So - I made MY version -
I started with ground chuck, seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and parsley; formed into 5 - 6 ounce patties. (yeah I know - it's bigger than a quarter pounder - but like Frank Sinatra and I both said - I DID IT MY WAY)
By choice - I very lightly (barely) toasted split bulkie rolls - the egg ones that are so good!
And of course I made homemade potato planks - cut about 1/4-inch thick and deep fried. Two planks were enough for each sandwich (it all depends on the size of your potatoes as well). I was going to make steak fries but my sammies were big and I felt the planks would hold up better. Next time I am going to make steak fries and I may even season them.
Assembly:
heel of roll
juicy, pan-fried burger
2 potato planks
ketchup
crown of roll slathered in mayo and just enough lettuce
That is how I had mine -
another I made had 2 slices of yellow American placed on the burger with a "layer" of dill pickle slices, then the planks, etc.
and yet another had a slice of onion and tomato added to it with the lettuce
So just like Burger King would say
HAVE IT YOUR WAY!
But I must admit - MY way - true belly busters and definitely will make them again.
