Mixing engine oils (Angelus2002)

I recently had my car serviced at Halfords. I asked them which engine oil they used as i wanted to keep to Castrol Edge 5w 30 as i have about 10 litres of it. They said they only use Mobil1 and that they recommend 5w 40. Am i ok using the Castrol?..
