MHL cable: Tabs to TVs (dirtyvest)

For some reason I brought an MHL cable knowing that my old 7" samsung Tab3 isn't compatible with MHL adators (annoyingly).... should it work on other tablets and phones (Huawei phone, or asus or Fire tablets) or should I get my £10 back..
