Wonder Bread
Classic White. This is it the loaf that made Wonder Bread a household name. Its soft, white and as wholesome as childhood itself. Wonder Bread builds strong bodies 8 ways. Love the red, yellow and blue balloons that still appear on the packaging.
1/4 cup water
2 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast
2 - 3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1⁄4 cup instant potato flakes
1⁄4 cup powdered milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter - melted
4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1/4 cup semolina
(or, another 1/4 cup all-purpose or bread flour)
melted butter for glazing
Whisk together the yeast, 1/4 cup warm water and sugar.
Allow to sit for 15 minutes.
Add ingredients in the order suggested by your manufacturer, including the yeast mixture.
Select the basic and light crust setting.
A white bread recipe without a strong yeast flavor.
Proofing the yeast first eliminates some of the yeast taste from the final product.
Makes 2 lb loaf.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes until evenly browned.
