Cauliflower steak

Cauliflower steak:

Ingredients:

One large head cauliflower

3 medium sized shallots

Blue cheese crumbles

Bacon bits

pinch of salt

pinch of black pepper

pinch of white pepper

olive oil

Directions:

With core facing down slice cauliflower head in two even pieces. Slice one 1/2 inch steak from the cut side repeat with both sides of cauliflower head. You should end up with 4 large flat 1/2 inch steak like cauliflower slices. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, white pepper and black pepper.

slice or chop shallots to sautee

Heat Olive oil in a large sauté pan, over medium heat. sautee shallots for 3- 5 minutes or until tender and slighty caramelized. Remove shallots and set aside.

Place cauliflower steaks in pan and without turning, cook for 7-8 minutes or until it starts to caramelize. Repeat with the other side.

Plate cauliflower steaks top with caramelized shallots, blue cheese crumbles and chopped bacon bits ( optional)
