Moving on to other promotional content, we have this oh-so-patriotic new poster, which uses the American Flag as a backdrop, beyond the words, "United We Purge." Peter Jackson knows that you are ramped up for the final installment in this lovingly detailed (of not slightly extended) adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. A full trailer for the newly-titled The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, is coming, and Jackson took to Facebook to update fans on its progress. But first, he shared a behind-the-scenes pic, which I didn’t want to have to crop, so here it is in its full glory!

Now, the bad news. Peter Jackson informs fans that the full trailer for the final The Hobbit film is "not going to be released until around Oct." because "the complex VFX work required to produce the battle shots we’re all wanting to see are simply not far enough along yet." Makes sense. We’re fully aware of Jackson’s capabilities when building Middle-earth, and we don’t want to rush him in his process. The Battle of the Five Armies will be the director’s final sprint through this amazing cinematic landscape to which he has dedicated years of his career, and he needs to cover every visual detail with the precision we have come to expect.

Yesterday I finished work on a Teaser Trailer, and that has just been delivered to Warner Bros. So no doubt this Teaser Trailer will be making it’s way into the world sometime soon." If we had to guess on that "soon," it would be at San Diego Comic-Con, where Warner Bros., as part of its panel, can give Peter Jackson and his Hobbit crew a proper send off. The director and his cast came to town in 2012 to kick off the Hobbit saga. But they bypassed the convention last year. Could the make a triumphant return to San Diego, as a Victory Lap of sorts? I think it’s highly likely that The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will be in Hall H in a few weeks, showing off that teaser trailer Peter Jackson just hinted at.
