Nitro or petrol RC cars - experiences? (MMA4life)

Hi all Was thinking about getting either a Nitro or petrol RC car, so wondering whether anybody has experience of these?i.e. what style to get? Truck or car? Costs? Maintenance issues? CheersJosh..
