Frozen Strawberry Squares





1 c. sifted flour

1/4 c. brown sugar

1/2 c. chopped walnuts

1/2 c. melted butter

2 beaten egg whites

1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries

2/3 c. sugar

2 tbsp. lemon juice

1 carton Cool Whip





Stir together flour, brown sugar, walnuts and butter. Spread evenly in shallow pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spread 2/3 of these crumbs in a 13"x9"x2" pan. Reserve 1/3. Combine egg whites, sugar, strawberries and lemon juice. Beat 10 minutes at high speed of electric mixer. Do not thaw strawberries or you have a big mess! When peaks form, fold in Cool Whip. Spoon over crumb crust. Top with remaining crumbs. Freeze 6 hours before serving.
