Frizzled Onions
I absolutely HATE those canned french fried onions. Never will I use them for anything - not even the famous green bean casserole.
And I am an onion lover - this recipe is great for the hot subs (hamburger, cheeseburger, steak, etc.), just about any sammie, used as topping for anything or eaten plain.
Heat about 1/2 cup to 2/3 cup oil (I use corn oil or lard for this recipe - YES - LARD!) over low/medium heat until a ring of onion sizzles in it. Then the oil is hot enough.
Slice onions thin - fry until a nice deep golden brown in color. Drain well and sprinkle with salt.
They come out of the pan soft and will crisp as they cool.
That's it - it's that easy. Even easier than onion rings!
