Project is still in its earliest stages

Watch Rush Online Everyone who has “Watch Matt Damon star as gangster Whitey Bulger” scrawled drunkenly on their Bucket List, listen up. That project, which Ben Affleck is set to direct, is finally showing some signs of life. Deadline reports Warner Bros. is currently in negotiations to bring screenwriter Aaron Stockard on board to perform some script doctoring on the current screenplay. It’ll be a while before this project will be going into production anyway, so it’s okay that they’re still only in the revision phase.

Watch Insidious Chapter 2 Online Stockard’s name may not be familiar to you, as he’s only had two projects produced, but I’m betting you know his work well. He was a co-writer on both Gone Baby Gone and The Town, both of which were directed by Affleck. It's not exactly hard to figure out how he got this new gig, but that’s hardly a bad thing as I really liked both of those films. Both of them served up a nice balance of crime and human drama, which is what this new film really needs. The Town already had a Bulger-like character, played with badassery by the dearly departed Pete Postlethwaite, so drawing out more of the same thing shouldn’t be too much of a stretch for Stockard, especially if he’s only adding to a preexisting script.

Watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Online The project began with Boardwalk Empire creator and The Sopranos writer Terrence Winter holding the pen, but there’s no telling why his initial screenplay needs to be changed. There hasn’t really been any information regarding how the story will be told, as Damon and Affleck have debated whether to make this a biopic covering the gangster's entire life or make it something more event-focused. There are certainly more than enough events in Bulger’s life to choose from. A former FBI informant, the south Boston crime boss was a fugitive from 1994 until he was finally caught in 2011 at age 81. He was put on trial in June of this year for 32 counts of racketeering and extortion, among other things, and was found to have been involved in at least 11 murders - though that number is, realistically, a tad low. They only have so much evidence.

Watch We Are What We Are Online There’s no telling when the film will go into production, and seeing as Affleck will be busy playing Batman and both directing and starring in the Denis Lehane crime drama adaptation Live by Night next year, I imagine it’ll be a while before the project hits theaters. In the meantime, how about a documentary? Directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris waited six years in between directing the Oscar winning Little Miss Sunshine in 2006 and Ruby Sparks in 2012, but it doesn't appear as though the duo will be waiting that long to make their third feature together. The Wrap reports that Dayton and Faris have settled on their next project, which is set to be an adaptation of the memoir I'm Proud of You written by author Tim Madigan.

Watch Insidious Chapter 2 Online The book was first published last year and, according to the publisher's description on Amazon, tells the story of how Madigan, who worked as a journalist in Texas, started a deep and long-lasting friendship with none other than Fred Rogers a.k.a. Mr. Rogers. The two first met when the writer was doing an assignment for a newspaper back in 1995 and became fast friends, the television icon ultimately helping Madigan through a time of deep depression and a rough relationship with his father. The two remained close until Rogers' death in 2003. Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue, who wrote the upcoming thriller The Motel Life starring Dakota Fanning and Emile Hirsch, are handling the adaptation's script, while Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub’s Big Beach Films are serving as producers (having previously worked on Little Miss Sunshine).

Watch We’re The Millers Online Who do you think they should get to play Mr. Rogers in I'm Proud of You? Let us know what you're thinking in the comments below. For a film that will only reportedly cost $25 million, Philip Noyce’s upcoming feature adaptation of Lois Lowry’s The Giver is looking to get every dollar’s worth from the talent involved. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Katie Holmes is set to join Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges inv the film, a co-production from The Weinstein Company and Walden Media.

Watch Kick Ass 2 Online Holmes’ role will be that of Jonas’ mother, an adamant obeyer of the strict societal laws. I generally think that Holmes is decent in dramatic roles where suspense isn’t a part of the equation, so I can see her as an uptight mom. With the aforementioned Jack and Jill and the miniseries The Kennedys being the last time we really got to see Holmes on screen, there is quite a bit to look forward to. She’s starring with Jean Reno and William Hurt in actor Christian Carmago’s directorial debut Days and Nights; she’ll play an elementary school teacher-turned-vigilante in Karen Leigh Hopkins’ Miss Meadows; and she’ll be romantic in a psych ward in Paul Dalio’s Mania Days. The strangest title of all, however, is Responsible Adults, in which she will play a med student who begins a romantic relationship with a young man (Chace Crawford) who she babysat for 15 years before. Weird.

Watch Lee Daniels’ The Butler Online The Giver, which also stars Alexander Skarsgård, Odeya Rush, Cameron Monaghan and Emma Tremblay, is looking to go into production soon in South Africa, but because Streep will be shooting Rob Marshall’s Into the Woods in England, she will likely have her scenes filmed there as well. Look for the film when it hits theaters on August 15, 2014. Though the project was only officially announced back in late July at San Diego Comic-Con, Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel seems to be moving like a rocket. In the last couple months we've not only learned that Ben Affleck has been hired to play the new Batman, but also that the filming is going to take place in Detroit, that the Dark Knight in the film will be "'tired And weary and seasoned," and that production will be gearing to start up early next year. Speaking with the Associated Press (via SlashFilm), screenwriter David Goyer says that one of the most exciting things about the project thus far is that the movie is actually "a bit a further a long than what [he thinks] people realize.

Watch Battle of the Year Online Having recently taken a brief hiatus from acting, Holmes is now really getting back into it. It turns out being in the movie Jack and Jill doesn’t completely end anyone’s career. This is arguably the most high profile role as of late, given the near universal acclaim the source material has received since it was first released . With a screenplay that was most recently given a rewrite by playwright Michael Mitnick, The Giver tells the story of a young boy named Jonas (Brenton Thwaites), who lives in what seems to be a perfect utopia, where everyone has resorted to complacency and overt lawfulness in exchange for no sickness, pain, or color. When he comes of age Jonas learns that he is to become the society's Receiver of Memories, a revered position that has him working with the titular Giver (Bridges), the former Receiver of Memories. The Giver teaches Jonas how to use the power of his senses, and the boy slowly understands what the world was like before everything changed, ultimately uncovering the dark secret that allows the society to function.

Most audiences, of course, know Rogers from his long running children's series Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, which began in 1963 and ultimately made more than 1000 episodes over 31 seasons. The man spent decades working to teach young people about the importance of manners, politeness, and what it means to be a good human being. And who could ever forget that amazing theme song? Of course, one of the biggest challenges of this film will be finding the right actor to play the television legend. Given that the story begins when Rogers was 67, they'll obviously have to find an older performer to take the part, but who out there could possibly match the kind and positive energy that Rogers produced? As Madigan's book explains, the man was a unique personality and the world has seen few like him. It's possible that the list of 60-70 year old experienced actors in Hollywood could even end up being too short for Dayton and Faris, making them look to an unknown actor to take the part. It still may be a while before we actually hear any casting news, as it sounds like this project is still in its earliest stages, but it's certainly something to ponder over.
