Wash clean and boil your sweet potatoes. Peel and slice into slices about 1/3-inch thick. You don't want them too thin.
Layer in buttered (not oiled) baking dish with brown sugar, salt, pepper, dots of butter (much better than spreads or margarines).
Top with crushed butter-flavored crackers. At this point you can drizzle with a tiny bit of melted butter, or you can dot the crumbs lightly or leave them plain.
Bake in preheated moderate oven until crumbs are lightly toasted and taters are heated through.
