Fox is wasting now
Watch Man of Steel Online So why does a movie of such a book give me pause? Maybe it shouldn't, but I also remember the rush of several filmmakers to tackle the tricky topic of 9/11. At the time I cringed, and still haven't watched those films. The emotions from that time still felt too raw, and I had no interest in seeing stars live out the roles of real people who had died in such a senseless attack. However, just because they bought the rights to Boston Strong doesn't mean Johnson and Tamasy are looking to rush it into theaters. It's possible that they just felt driven to secure the property, as they have a history with Sherman. Not so long ago, Disney hired them to draft the screenplay for an adaptation of his book Finest Hours, which will be helmed by R.I.P.D director Robert Schwentke. So, maybe we should wait to see how that docudrama turns out before we get worked up about this in-development one.
Watch Iron Man 3 Online Cinema has long had a fascination with outer space, and 2013 has proven that in spades, with a large selection of space-related films getting due releases - from the lackluster budget busters Oblivion and After Earth to more subdued affairs like Europa Report. And despite what may seem like genre frontloading, the rest of 2013 has its own share of arguably more anticipated space stories, with Neil Blomkamps Elysium and David Twohys Riddick both coming out in the next two months. But what may be the most exciting upcoming sci-fi project of the year is Alfonso Cuaróns Gravity, both because of its intriguing subject matter and the fact that Cuarón hasnt made a feature since 2007s masterpiece Children of Men. Since the breathtaking teaser trailer was released in May weve been waiting for another look at this flick, and now USA Today has given us the first Gravity still, seen above, which features a headset-wearing Sandra Bullock just floating about...since gravity is for Earth squares.
Watch Now You See Me Online For the first time since mid-June, Singer has Tweeted a new shot from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past - which you can see above. While the image only came with the simple message "House call. #Xmen #DaysOfFuturePast," the name on the mailbox - Maximoff - is a clear reference to Quicksilver's real name, Pietro Maximoff. The hero is being played by American Horror Story's Evan Peters in the new film, but it's unclear if the he will be featured in the story's 1973 timeline with the crew from X-Men: First Class or stuck in the apocalyptic future with the cast from the original X-Men trilogy.
Watch Star Trek into Darkness Online There was a month-long period starting back in late April when it looked as though Marvel Studio's The Avengers 2 would be the first time that we ever got to see a live-action version of the speedy superhero Quicksilver on the big screen - but that story changed very quickly when Twentieth Century Fox, the studio that shares the rights to the character with Marvel, caught wind of the news. In late May director Bryan Singer announced that Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past would also include its own version of Quicksilver, one that would beat Avengers 2 to theaters by almost a full year. It remains unclear how the new X-Men movie will actually be using the character or how he will fit into the story, but one thing is now for certain: we'll get to see his home.
Watch The Purge Online Unless the next cameo is slated to be Rob Schneider or will.I.am, this is probably the only time Im going to complain about anything Veronica Mars related this year. Im exceedingly pumped that most of the supporting cast from the show has already signed on, including Francis Capra, Ryan Hansen, Jason Dohring, Max Greenfield, Tina Majorino, Chris Lowell, Krysten Ritter, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III and Ken Marino. And you cant tell me adding the subtle comedic genius Martin Starr to this thing is going to be a bust.
Fox is wasting now time sharing content from the feature adaptation-in-progress for James Dashner's The Maze Runner. Earlier this week, we got our first glimpse of some stills from the movie, and in anticipation of an upcoming Twitter chat, we're starting to see some great character cards, which give us an up-close look at some of the characters, including the story's protagonist Thomas, as seen above, portrayed by Teen Wolf's Dylan O'Brien. The benefit of adapting a book to screen is the built-in fan base, and studios seem to be making good use of that in their efforts to promote upcoming features. The Maze Runner is no exception. The first book in Dashner's series introduces us to Thomas, a teen who wakes up in a dark elevator that delivers him to a place called the Glade, which is inhabited by other teen boys who arrived just like he did over the past couple of years, each showing up with no memory of how they got there or who they are, beyond knowing their own name. Every day, the walls of the Glade open up to a huge and dangerous maze. Empire has learned that both Brendan Gleeson and Sam Keeley have been enlisted to star in Howard's next movie. Based on the book by Nathaniel Philbrick, the story is set in 1820 and follows the crew of a whaling ship off the coast of Nantucket that winds up being destroyed " by a vengeful sperm whale." Twenty of the men aboard the ship were able to survive the attack and get away on a lifeboat, but after a long time out at sea they were forced to resort to cannibalism. It was previously announced that the movie will also feature Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter star Ben Walker and The Impossible's Tom Holland.
